Nuxt docs, chapter by chapter

Nuxt docs, chapter by chapter

How to use this section to learn the official Nuxt 4 documentation thoroughly — getting started, concepts, every directory, going further, and the full API reference — and quiz yourself on it.

The Building Nuxt apps section explains how to build with Nuxt at senior depth. This section is the reference layer: the official Nuxt 4 documentation, chapter by chapter, in the docs' own order, distilled to the statements an interviewer can check. Every page links to the chapters it summarises. Read a digest, open the chapters, then train the section's questions, which are written at the level of the docs.

Snapshot: Nuxt 4.5.2 is the latest release (5 August 2026). The docs describe some things that are landing in 4.6 or Nuxt 5 (nuxt/server imports, server builders); those are marked as such here.

Know

  • The documentation has four parts. Getting Started (installation through upgrade), the Guide (Concepts, Directory Structure, Going Further, Recipes, Best Practices, Module Author Guide, AI), the API (Components, Composables, Utils, Commands, Nuxt Kit, Advanced, Configuration), and Community. There are also migration guides (Nuxt 2 → 3, Bridge) and a catalogue of error codes (NUXT_E…).
  • Every docs page is available as Markdown by appending .md to its URL or via https://nuxt.com/llms.txt, and there is an official MCP server at https://nuxt.com/mcp. Mentioning this shows you know how to work with the docs in 2026 tooling.
  • Version badges matter. The docs tag features with the minor that introduced them (v3.12, v3.14, v4.3, v4.4). Knowing the recent ones (useAnnouncer 4.4.2, clearNuxtState({ reset }) 4.4, View Transition types 4.4, disabling modules and the server alias 4.3) signals that you read release notes.
  • Kit and module authoring are covered by the Module authoring and Layers sections; this section only maps them.

How to study it

Read the digests in order once, opening the linked chapters as you go and marking pages as read. Then train this section's questions in "Unseen first" mode; they are deliberately fact-level so that the vocabulary becomes automatic. The Building Nuxt apps questions then test whether you can use the facts.

Gotcha· 3.x pages in search results

Search engines still rank nuxt.com/docs/3.x/... and old blog posts highly. Nuxt 4 changed defaults (app/ directory, data defaulting to undefined, shallow data fetching, compatibilityDate) and every digest here is written against /docs/4.x/. Check the URL before trusting a snippet.

Exercise

Exercise
  • Open https://nuxt.com/llms.txt, count the pages under each part of the docs, and note which ones you have never opened.
  • Append .md to any docs URL and read it raw; then configure the Nuxt MCP server in your editor and ask it one question about useAsyncData.

Be able to say

Be able to say· How well do you know the Nuxt documentation?

"Well enough to navigate it from memory: Getting Started from installation to the upgrade guide, the Guide's concepts and directory structure, the Going Further chapters on runtime config, hooks, layers and internals, the recipes, and the API reference for components, composables, utils and the CLI. I know which features carry a recent version badge, I read the docs as Markdown or through the Nuxt MCP server when I need precision, and I check the 4.x URL before I trust a snippet, because the 3.x defaults differ."
